A new single family home, set on a 50 acre parcel near the top of Mount Hamilton, enjoys views in all directions. Prevailing winds and solar control, along with sloping site conditions,
resulted in a massing of two volumes which appear to slip by one another. The "front" mass is covered by a low single-sloping roof to deflect winds and lessen the visual impact of the house on the valley below.
The "rear" mass, clad in Corten steel, opens up to the pristine natural environment behind the home.
