The imposition of a street grid on the topography of San Francisco creates interruptions in the urban fabric. These anomalies become sites for architectural interventions which accentuate the physical discontinuities and offer visual transitions. Progression within a series of walls pierced with optikë quadrangles provides a perspectival framework for the urban and natural surroundings. The relationship between parts - and the relationship between part and whole - is heightened through the force of geometric perspective.
